The Madonna 5K Walk/Run (M5K), which is certified by USA Track & Field, has been rescheduled to Saturday, October 29, 2016, at 10am. It was originally scheduled for Saturday, October 22, but with forecasts calling for cold tempertures, high winds, and rain, the event has been postponed one week.
The start and finish line will be at Madonna Church, 359 Whiteman Street, Fort Lee, New Jersey.
The M5K will benefit 12-year-old Fort Lee resident, Briana Lopez, who is fighting Leukemia.
“When my friends complain about doing homework, I tell them to just be thankful,” said Briana who was interviewed live on NBC’s Today Show with Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb on September 22.
Briana has been fighting Leukemia for the past 8 months, and her mother provided the bone marrow transplant that saved her life. Now Briana wants to help raise awareness for children’s cancer.
The family is donating portions of the M5K to the Tomorrows Children’s Fund, which is affiliated with Hackensack University Medical Center, where nurses and doctors helped Briana pull through.
Over 200 participants are registered for the M5K. To sign up as an individual or as part of a team or to make a donation, go to: MadonnaChurch.org.
