According to Yahoo.com, Patricia Krentcil, the Nutley New Jersey woman known as “Tan Mom,” is currently on life support in a battle with pneumonia. The New York Daily News and US Weekly report that according to Krentcil’s music producer Adam Barta, she was placed in a medically-induced coma until her heart are lungs are strong enough to handle functioning on their own.

“They are feeding her very strong antibiotics to kill the infection as well, so her system is taking quite a hit,” Barta was quoted as saying. “I personally believe (this past weekend) was the most critical turning point, and she made it, so she will only continue to get better. The current plan (was) to try to extubate and revive her, provided she maintains this trajectory.”

Krentcil first made news in April 2012 when she was accused of endangering her then-5-year-old child by bringing her along to mother-daughter tanning salon sessions. Under New Jersey law, children under 14 years old are banned from using tanning salons.

School officials noticed burns on the young girl’s leg and reported the injuries to authorities. Following an investigation, Krentcil was arrested about a week later. According to NBC, the child’s father said it was a misunderstanding: He thinks she told her classmates she goes tanning with her mom; a teacher overheard; connected it to the daughter’s sunburn, and called the police. An Essex County grand jury declined to indict Krentcil on child endangerment charges in 2013.

Since then, Krentcil made a number of appearances with Dr. Drew and Howard Stern. There was also a (clothed) appearance in the 2013 adult film Kings of New York 2, as well as the release of a hip-hop single that year.

Barta said on Twitter of the 44-year-old Krentcil, who moved to Florida last year, “I fully expect her to be on the phone with Howard Stern in a week or two reliving this ordeal.”
