Did you know that Morris Country New Jersey has nearly ten THOUSAND residents who are over the age of 86? Dr. Milton “Mickey” Mintz of Dover sure does: he came out of retirement to specialize in treating them by making house calls.
He says, “We in medicine have developed and done many wonderful things that have contributed to advancing the age limits. But we seem to have forgotten that these people deserve better care when they are unable to travel to their physicians’ offices.”
Accompanied by a laptop computer and music ranging from Beethoven to fellow New Jerseyan Bruce Springsteen, Dr. Mintz estimates that he drives about 1,000 miles a month.
2023 UPDATE: Dr. Mintz is 94 years old, retired, and receiving care from the very Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey service he helped establish.
