One Facebook photo. Five words. Thirty-six hours. Twenty-nine thousand shares. And sixty-seven thousand comments.
The Facebook photo contains the man who IS Facebook — its CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The photo also contains his baby daughter. And its caption explains: “Doctor’s visit — time for vaccines!”
One vaccination cyber war, coming right up.
• “Who is paying him to do this? I’ll bet that baby will get no vaccines — who is with me?”
• “Medical doctors are usually given very little education on vaccines in medical school, and the info they are given is generally from the pharmaceutical industry that makes the vaccines.”
• “Injecting newborns and infants with disease and neurotoxins is disgusting science that injures millions every year.”
Fortunately, some voices of reason break through:
• “Thanks for taking care of your baby (and other peoples’ babies!)”
• “Isn’t that a little responsible? I mean, don’t you want to help run the risk of bringing back preventable illnesses?”
• “My son has problems with his immunity. Therefore, he is protected when community around him has been vaccinated. Therefore, I am happy to see that other parents take the responsibility and vaccinate their kids.”
And that’s the bottom line.
Of course there are a number of babies who get injured by vaccines. But next to the number of babies who aren’t injured by vaccines plus the number of babies who would be infected by the non-vaccinated because vaccines wouldn’t work on them, that number is exponentially small.
Vaccines can and do prevent preventable diseases. It’s not brain surgery.
