Peace Aging Care president, Principal Care Manager, and registered nurse Trish Colucci will address the United Way of Northern New Jersey Caregivers Coalition at the Verona Community Center on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 9:30 am.
Ms. Colucci’s talk and followup discussion will support and inform unpaid family members who are caring for an aging loved one on “Building Confidence in Making Nursing Home Decisions for Your Loved One.”
With a focus on building caregiver confidence, Ms. Colucci will bring clarity, empathy, and a dash of humor as she demystifies a frequently complicated topic. An RN for more than thirty years and specializing in geriatric care management for 15 years, Ms. Colucci will discuss how to determine when the time is right for a loved one to be transitioned to a nursing home, share techniques in identifying the most appropriate nursing homes for a loved one, and offer suggestions on how to get a jump start on planning if the time to relocate to a nursing home is not yet right.
“Deciding when, where and how to transition a family member to a nursing home is one of the biggest challenges facing families with an elderly loved one,” Ms. Colucci recently shared. “I look forward to sharing my expertise in this area as well as answering questions from this group of dedicated caregivers.”
Deborah Day, manager of the United Way Caregivers Coalition, expressed appreciation for Ms. Colucci speaking on this topic. “Trish is a wealth of knowledge for family caregivers on the topics they need to understand in their caregiving journey.”
The Verona Community Center is located at 880 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona, NJ. Registration is not required and light refreshments will be served. Plenty of free parking is available. Anyone with an interest in supporting caregivers including social service agencies, medical professionals, faith organizations and other community groups are invited to attend.
