The Muhlenberg Ambulatory Surgery Center (MASC), which offers minimally invasive surgical care in a 17,728-square-foot state-of-the-art space, has officially opened at the site of the former Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield.
MASC has four operating rooms and will provide pain management, orthopedic, sports medicine, spine/neuro, ortho spine, podiatric and lower-extremity vascular services.
MASC is a collaboration between the city and Bloomfield-based real estate development company CHA Partners.
“We welcome Muhlenberg Ambulatory Surgery Center as not only an asset to our local business community but also as a resource for health and wellness for our surrounding areas at large. This definitely showcases how Plainfield is growing as a destination for more than one reason,” said Zenobia Fields, the city’s director of economic development, in a statement.
Mayor Adrian O. Mapp said he was thrilled to welcome a medical facility to the former hospital site.
“Plainfield suffered a crushing blow when Muhlenberg closed and having a local facility that offers same-day surgeries will be extremely convenient for many residents, especially our senior citizens or those who have transportation challenges,” Mapp said in a statement. “We are grateful for the partnership with NJ ASC and CHA Partners.”
NJ ASC Management (NJ ASC) is MASC’s management company and the surgery center division of CHA Partners.
“[CHA] wanted to make sure that healthcare and jobs were actually returned back to the community. We are very proud of this facility, and we hope the community is also proud of this facility.” said William Colgan, CHA’s managing partner, in a statement.
“Our expectation is that it’s probably going to be one of the busiest surgical centers within 50 miles of its location, and I say that with great confidence.”
