R&B singer K Michelle has completed a series of six surgeries to have her illegal body enhancements removed.
Michelle, whose rose to fame after appearing on the reality Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta in 2012, said in a June 2018 People magazine interview that she once believed altering her figure would boost her career. “When I found out my favorite rapper did it, that’s when I decided, ‘I’m getting it done.'”
She’d heard about a man in Atlanta who offered to inject her butt and hips with silicone. The man was not a doctor, and the procedure, dubbed “hydrogel,” was administered illegally.
At first, she had fat transfers to from her stomach to her buttocks in order to shape that area the way she wanted. Then Michelle decided she wanted to be even curvier, and had fat transfer procedures to increase the size of her hips as well.
Soon after having the risky procedures done, both Michelle and her music started getting and more attention. For five years, the enhancements gave her no problems. But in 2017, Michelle began to experience fatigue, migraines, and back and leg pain. Doctors found that the silicone had spread down her legs, “damaging her tissue and threatening her overall health,” People reported.
The first attempt to remove the injections almost killed K. Michelle, requiring multiple blood transfusions — she needed six surgeries to remove implants to restore her health, and she is now back to work after months of recovery. She’s released an “after” image showing just how much happier, healthier, and NORMAL she looks!
