Walmart is pulling some lots of Parent’s Choice Rice Baby Cereal from its shelves in New Jersey and elsewhere after the baby food tested above Food and Drug Administration recommended levels for naturally occurring arsenic.
The trace amounts of arsenic were discovered in a routine sampling of Parent’s Choice products by the FDA. According to the FDA, the affected 8-ounce lots sold after April 5 include:
Lot 21083 with UPC Code #00681131082907 with a “best if used by” date of JUN 24 2022;
Lot 21084 with UPC Code #00681131082907 with a “best if used by” date of JUN 25 2022;
Lot 21242 with UPC Code #00681131082907 with a “best if used by” date of NOV 30 2022.
Customers who may have packages of the affected baby cereal should throw the product away or return it to Walmart for a full refund.

Picking and eating wild mushrooms growing in gardens, fields, lawns, or woods is a dangerous game. Since issuing an advisory in August 2021, the New Jersey Poison Control Center has assisted 29 people and four pets exposed to wild mushrooms.
In the event of a potential mushroom poisoning, remove all pieces of the mushroom from the person’s mouth. Put the pieces into a paper bag (NOT plastic). If possible collect and bag all mushrooms growing near the one that was eaten. You may put all the mushrooms together in one paper bag or use two separate bags.
Take a digital photograph of the mushroom(s) in question. It helps to take a picture of the mushroom next to other objects such as a coin, ruler, etc., to provide a sense of size. Call your local poison control center to get expert medical treatment advice.
New Jersey residents can contact the Poison Help Hotline for free, confidential help 24/7: phone 1-800-222-1222; text 973-339-0702; or visit the New Jersey Poison Center’s website.
