New Jersey Eye Center, a premier eye care facility is excited to celebrate 37 years of successful Outpatient Cataract Surgery.
Dr. Joseph Dello Russo, an Alpine resident, was the first doctor in the Northeast to offer cataract surgery in a fully equipped private surgical center rather than a hospital in 1978. Since then, outpatient ambulatory surgery centers became the standard of care.
New Jersey Eye Center is accredited by AAAHC (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care) and has a philosophy of patient focused care in a quality and safety oriented environment. The center performs state of the art, refractive cataract surgery, which often eliminates the use of glasses in a 10-minute procedure.
“While we have state-of-the-art facilities and technology, it is the dedication and experience of our staff and incredible doctors and surgeons that is the secret to our success,” says Catherine Saetta, Chief Executive Officer of New Jersey Eye Center and Dello Russo LaserVision.
“We realize that undergoing an operation may be an uneasy experience for many of our patients. Therefore, through our values of Compassion, Attitude, Respect, Excellence and Service, we strive to make their visit as pleasant, comfortable and successful as possible. These values drive our organization.”
The New Jersey Eye Center

was founded in 1972, and has grown to become a multi-disciplinary practice. Today it boasts a full ophthalmic staff that includes optometrists for routine eye care, a specialist in glaucoma and a retina specialist with a concentration in the area of diabetic eye problems and macular degeneration. Its on-site full surgical suite is staffed by cataract surgeons, operating room RNs and board certified anesthesiologists who perform cataract surgeries as well as routine ophthalmic procedures.
An optical shop with a fashionable selection of prescription eyeglasses, sunglasses and contact lenses is available at the ground floor. New Jersey Eye Center participates with Medicare and all major insurances and vision plans. For the benefit of patients without insurance we provide interest free patient financing.
