Bayonne Medical Center has added an outpatient psychiatry office to its variety of services, hospital officials said.

The new office is on the ground floor of the CarePoint Health hospital and is open Mondays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon. The hospital will expand the hours in the coming months, spokesperson Jennifer Morrill said.

The office provides medication management for adults with mood spectrum disorders, anxiety spectrum disorders and psychotic spectrum disorders.
The office also provides services to new adult patients and provides follow-up care for BMC Emergency Department patients and inpatient discharges.

“We recognize the importance of this type of program and will be working with the physician community to help them educate their patients on signs and symptoms of mental health disorders and the treatment resources that are available,” said Dr. Vijayant Singh, Bayonne Medical Center’s chief medical officer.

For information, call the BMC at 201-858-5000 and ask for the psychiatry office.

All emergency mental health situations should still be handled through the hospital’s Emergency Department.
